kazze cafe - IL

By Beatrice at The Zion List

Every group has a designated gluten-free friend. They're usually the one sitting at the coffee shop surrounded by beautiful pastries, staring down at a sad, beige, rock-hard muffin comparable to drywall from the '90s.

Enter Kazze Cafe. Perched along Jerusalem's Bezalel Street, it offers a much happier ending.

Kazze is a 100% gluten-free, kosher cafe, which means for gluten-free people: YOU CAN EAT ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. The menu is packed with gf treats, from house-made pizzas to enormous slices of cookie-crumb cheesecake. My personal favorite has to be the giant cinnamon rolls topped with cream cheese frosting. And it wouldn’t be Jerusalem if they didn’t make a delicious cafe kar (cold coffee, not to be confused with Israeli "iced coffee," which is more like a frappe).

The cafe itself is artsy, understated, and cozy, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Dark wood counters, cascading plants lining the windows, and a corner view of bustling Bezalel Street make it one of the chillest spots in the city.
